Primary uses
- Moderate to severe pain: This can include pain from a serious injury or pain following an operation. It may also be used for long-term (chronic) pain when weaker medications like paracetamol or ibuprofen have not been effective.
- Conditions causing pain: Dihydrocodeine is prescribed for a variety of painful conditions, including:
- Sciatica
- Joint pain such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis
- Cancer-related pain
